Careers
Since its establishment in July 2006, the Institute for Genomics & Systems Biology (IGSB) has been rapidly growing through the active recruitment of faculty and staff. IGSB will house 9 to 10 core faculty members in genomics and systems biology at the University of Chicago and several scientists at Argonne National Laboratory. The Institute is also recruiting junior scientists and technical staff to fulfill IGSB mission goals.
Current Opportunities
Computational Scientist
The University of Chicago’s Computation Institute and the Departments of Computer Science, Human Genetics, Medicine and Sociology, are launching a program to harvest and analyze biomedical hypotheses on a large scale. Interdisciplinary research questions and methods span computational text mining, mathematical modeling, parallel computation, interactive surveys and social network analysis. Individuals with strong computational training who are excited to engage path-breaking research challenges and solutions are encouraged to apply at either graduate or postgraduate levels.
Recombineering Director
The Chicago Center for Systems Biology (CCSB) in the Institute for Genomics and Systems Biology (IGSB) at the University of Chicago, invites applications from outstanding Ph.D.-level scientists for the position of Director, Recombineering Core Facility. We seek an independent, creative scientist who can develop and implement advanced and novel DNA engineering technologies, protocols and methods for large-scale clone production in human cells and animals.
Research Technologist
Perform duties as a Research Technologist in the Institute for Genomics & Systems Biology at the University of Chicago together with collaborators at other Chicago institutions. Join a team involved in target discovery and drug discovery in a genomics/high throughput biology laboratory. Use high throughput technology to perform drug discovery. Attend and participate in project meetings, summarize results of experiments performed and assist in interpreting the results of studies. Interact with students and other laboratory members and assist them with their work as directed by the PI.
